Nobody checks your passport when they guess your age: they read your face in under a second. Skin texture and fine lines, how hollow or bright the under-eye area is, how full the cheeks are, how sharp the jaw and neck look, and your hair. The photo changes how old you look more than anything else. For an honest number:
- 1Face the camera straight on, at eye level, about an arm's length away.
- 2Use soft daylight from the front. Overhead light deepens under-eye shadows and adds years.
- 3Turn off beauty mode and filters: they smooth skin and take years off.
- 4Relax your face. A big smile adds lines at the eyes; a neutral face is the fairest test.

How old do I look?+
Upload a front-facing selfie and the test gives you the age most people would guess, the range of likely guesses and the three cues on your face that set it. It takes a few seconds and needs no sign-up.
How accurate is the AI age guess?+
It reads the same visible cues people do, so it is as close as a careful stranger: usually within a few years of what people guess, and the same photo always gets the same answer. It estimates how old you look, not your birth date: someone with great skin will be guessed younger, and that is the point of the test.
Why does the test say I look older than I am?+
Usually the photo. Overhead light, a close-up lens, a big smile or a tired day all add years. Retake it in soft daylight at arm's length with a neutral face. If the number stays high, the three cues tell you what is driving it: often the under-eye area or skin texture, both of which respond to sleep, sunscreen and skincare.
Can I look younger in photos?+
Yes. Soft front light, a slightly raised camera, a relaxed face and no harsh shadows under the eyes can take years off the same face. A haircut and colours that suit your face do the rest; Symmi Lab shows both on your own photo.
Is this a photo age calculator?+
